The child welfare system, which is actually the family policing system, maintains power and control over the lives of families and children—most often Indigenous families and children— through surveillance, regulation, and punishment.
Our next symposium aims to co-imagine how to move from family policing towards family wellbeing, and share the work being done to abolish the existing family policing system.
This event is open to Feminists Deliver’s members and organizations/non-profits working with youth in care, individuals and families that are dealing with the MCFD, and advocates and allies of children, youth, and families in care.

Truth Telling & Reconciliation in Local Government
In 2022, our member organization, Women Transforming Cities, with guidance from Indigenous leaders, compiled the research they conducted with local government representatives to better understand their progress in implementing the TRC Calls to Action that directly relate to local government.
Municipalities in particular — as the level of government closest to our day to day lives — have a unique role to play in implementing the Calls to Action.
Farewell, Ellen Woodsworth!
Women Transforming Cities also said goodbye to their founder and longtime leader and guide, Ellen Woodsworth.
Ellen has retired from WTC after 18 years of tirelessly advocating for better cities for women and girls.
We wish Ellen all the very best in her continued global advocacy work!

Beyond Consent: Disability Justice and Anti-Violence
This discussion focuses on the intersections of disability justice and anti-violence organizing.
People with disabilities face disproportionate rates of sexual violence compared to non-disabled people. Despite this, anti-violence organizing can be inaccessible and exclusionary to survivors, advocates, and allies with disabilities. This begs the question – how can we work to make anti-violence work more accessible, as well as integrate disabled perspectives into our advocacy and community care?
